Improvisation is Spontaneous Composing.

Take Note:

  1. Anyone can improvise!  It is a matter of developing a good MUSICAL IMAGINATION.

  2. Try painting a Musical picture, or telling a Musical story.

  3. No fear about making a mistake! You are the Composer, so if something sound a bit funny, don't worry, you can pretend you meant it to sound like that!

  4. If a note of your melody sounds out of place, try moving BY STEP to another note, while keeping the flow of the music going.

  5. Create Musical Ideas:

    The skill of Improvising is the ability to REMEMBER your ideas.

    REPEAT your good ideas

    bullet

    Don't repeat your bad ideas!

    bullet

    Work in musical PHRASES.
