AIM:  

  To build a TRIAD on any note.

What is a CHORD?

A CHORD is a group of notes played 
together and the same time.

CHORDS create HARMONY.

What is a TRIAD?

A TRIAD is a 3-note CHORD, made up of
notes an interval of a THIRD apart
 

  A  B   A  B  C  D  E  F  G

We use SCALES to build TRIADS.
bullet

3-note CHORDS are built by
choosing 3 notes and playing them
together, at the same time.

bullet

Most common chords use alternate 
notes of the scale: 

e.g.   C  A  B 

or     C  B  C 

or     C  D

This means that a "C" chord will have
the notes of C, E, and G playing at the
same time. 
(We will learn later about different types of chords)

Try playing different 3-note chords
bullet

Choose any white note, then:

Play that note
bullet

miss one white note

bullet

Play the next white one
bullet

miss one white note

bullet

Play the next white one

bullet

Play the 3 notes together
(Use your Thumb, middle & little fingers)

bullet

Move up and down the keyboard
playing all the TRIADS you can find.

bullet

Listen to the different sounds they make.

bullet

Move the mouse over the chords in 
the TRIAD FINDER to find the notes of
each triad on the Keyboard.

Click to hear the Triad. Compare with
what you play on your keyboard.
